- Introduce
- HINCESTI is one of the oldest existing Moldavian wineries. It is well known to the western wine connoisseurs thanks to the success of Kirkwood Chardonnay produced here. The winery was started by Manuc Bei, the attendant to the Turkish Pasha and the Russian Tzar, who delivered the best local wines to a wide range of destinations across Europe.
Nowadays, Hincesti is a winery featuring state of the art modern equipment and the only one in Moldova certified to produce VDO and VDOC wines equivalent to the French AOC (Appellation d'Origine Controllee). The winery is among the first in Moldova to start producing organic wines.
The Hincesti Winery comprises six grape processing, winemaking, bottling and storage facilities ensuring the complete production cycle from raw grapes to bottled wines. The main plant is located in the town of Hincesti about 28 kilometers (18 miles) south of Chisinau, the capital of or Moldova. The plant stands on approximately 4.8 hectares (12 acres) of owned land. The other locations are Bozieni, Mereseni, Stoliniceni, Caracui and Codru. They are all situated amongst the surrounding vineyards to ensure minimum time between the picking and the processing of grapes.
